COMPARISON OF FLOORING
The Loftzone Raised Loft Floor system is the only method approved by the BBA (British Board of Agrement) for boarding an insulated loft.
It is lightweight and exceeds the building regulations requirements for a storage floor. Over 50,000 homes have now been installed with this system.
Most providers will offer to board your loft with a timber subframe made from 2×4″ lengths of timber to “house your insulation”. This is not really suitable for an insulated loft.
The reality, however, is that it will compress your insulation, putting pressure on the plasterboard below. This method will not provide the required airflow space required to prevent damp from forming on the underside of the boards.
The pictures above show the underside of boarding that we have removed from a client’s home.
These boards had been installed directly onto a timber subframe and were touching the insulation. Without an air gap moisture forms on the underside of the boards and they slowly rot over time. Unfortunately, you usually can’t see
this until it’s too late.

Strong Galvanized Steel Cross-Beams
The cross-beams make the raised deck safe to walk upon. Beams are the only safe way to support loft boards, and protect pipes or wiring. Other loft boarding systems are unable to do this.
