YBS SuperQuilt, Supplied and Fitted

Draft information — product specifications and certification await confirmation.

YBS SuperQuilt is the named multifoil product in our service brief. The current manufacturer site now presents it as SuperQuilt, previously YBS SuperQuilt. It is a flexible reflective material used within suitable assessed constructions, rather than a structural board or a stand-alone guarantee of compliance.

This product page is a draft because the supplied specifications do not fully match the current manufacturer technical sheet. The comparison below keeps that distinction visible. We will not choose the more favourable number, conceal a fire-classification conflict or describe an assembly value as a universally applicable product value. Confirm the product version and documentation before specification.

What YBS SuperQuilt is

The current manufacturer page describes a construction with 19 layers and an overall thickness of approximately 40 mm. Its technical sheet describes aluminium, metallised polyethylene, polyethylene foam and polyester wadding. The product is flexible and can form part of a roof or wall insulation arrangement, with other applications dependent on the assessed construction.

When correctly installed and sealed according to the relevant instructions, it may also contribute to the vapour-control arrangement. That does not mean an unsealed sheet gives the intended result. Joints, penetrations, surrounding materials and the position of the thermal boundary all affect the final construction. A photograph of the roll cannot establish those details.

The specification

The table distinguishes figures supplied in the brief from those in the current linked manufacturer technical sheet, reference TDS-UK-INSUK0044.c/EN. The supplied core resistance is 1.52 m²K/W, while the current sheet states 1.5 m²K/W. The brief gives Class E using surface-spread wording; the current sheet instead states reaction to fire Class F under EN 13501-1. These are not interchangeable claims.

The brief’s roof, wall and floor values describe application performance, not the bare core alone. Their specific construction details have not been supplied, so they remain unconfirmed and are not put into Product structured data. Likewise, the supplied water-vapour figure and current sheet use different measures; converting between them without the relevant test basis would not verify the claim.

[CONFIRM CERTIFICATION] — obtain the current certificate number, exact product version, wording and application scope from the supplier. No certification body is named as a confirmed claim on this page. The draft remains excluded from search and the sitemap until the conflicting figures and certification slot are resolved.

Where SuperQuilt suits

The manufacturer describes consideration for roof, wall and floor use depending on project design. The intended location must be matched to an assessed build-up and the building’s requirements. A numerical wall value cannot be transferred to a roof detail, and a floor figure cannot be assumed to apply beneath any boarding arrangement.

Space and access can influence product choice, but they do not override fire or moisture requirements. The current manufacturer warns against external-wall use in buildings over 11 metres. That restriction must be read alongside the rules for the actual building and construction. We do not describe the product as non-combustible or suitable for every location.

How it is installed

The current technical sheet describes fixing to timber with staples, 50 mm overlaps and sealing with aluminium foil tape. This is only part of the installation information: the relevant assessed construction determines the air spaces, additional insulation and surrounding layers. The current product instructions must accompany the chosen design.

Details at the eaves, ridges, edges and penetrations need to maintain the intended assembly. If the product is used as part of vapour control, continuity and sealing need particular care. The technical sheet also calls for protection from weather and sunlight immediately after installation. The finished arrangement should not leave the product exposed contrary to those instructions.

SuperQuilt in a loft conversion

A loft conversion is more than insulation. Creating a habitable room can involve structural capacity, stairs, fire precautions and approval requirements. SuperQuilt may be considered within the insulation design, but it does not establish that the whole conversion is compliant. These service pages do not offer a complete loft-conversion package.

If an architect, designer or building-control team is involved, the proposed insulation detail should be shared with them before work is agreed. Identify the required performance, existing roof materials and finishes. Do not replace a specified construction with a different product solely on the basis of a retailer’s headline comparison.

What you get from us

We take multifoil enquiries across England and Wales from our Cowley, Oxford office. Tell the team where you want the insulation installed and whether boarding is also part of the project. The relevant assessment and written scope should identify the product, construction, preparation, access and exclusions rather than promising an unspecified improvement.

Before accepting an installation proposal, ask for the current product documents and the application detail on which it relies. Confirm any necessary approvals and what will be supplied at handover. Warranty or insurance terms for this insulation service have not been provided, so the solar and battery warranty wording is not reused here.

The enquiry form below selects multifoil insulation. It does not require you to choose a disputed R-value or certify your own roof. The team can discuss the property and identify what information is needed next. If you already have a designer’s specification, mention that during the conversation so the actual project requirements can be considered.

Common questions

What is YBS SuperQuilt?

It is the multifoil product named in our service brief, now described by the current manufacturer as SuperQuilt, previously YBS SuperQuilt. It forms part of a specified insulation assembly; the actual product version and current documents must be confirmed.

How thick is SuperQuilt?

Both the supplied brief and current manufacturer information state approximately 40 mm. This is the material thickness, not the total depth of an installed assembly with its required air spaces and any additional insulation.

Can SuperQuilt be used in a loft conversion?

It may be considered within a suitable assessed design. A loft conversion has wider structural, access, fire and approval requirements. The insulation product alone does not establish compliance or make storage boarding habitable.

Does SuperQuilt need an air gap either side?

Use the air-space arrangement specified for the intended assessed construction. Roof, wall and floor details may differ. Do not assume a single gap size or a universal both-sides rule without the current application documentation.

Can you fit SuperQuilt over existing insulation?

That depends on the existing materials, their condition and the proposed assembly. Moisture control and the assessed construction need checking. A headline product value is not enough to decide whether the combination is suitable.
